Project Info:

PROJECT BACKGROUND Brandenburg Industrial Service Company completed a  successful project at Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs. The historic ballpark is a Chicago landmark undergoing a multiyear renovation project, which began October 2014.

Brandenburg was contracted to remove the left and right field bleachers composed of structural steel and concrete.

Brandenburg carefully protected the infamous outfield ivy brick wall while removing the concrete stadium seating that was attached to the wall. The crew used equipment that ranged from a large excavator down to handheld demolition equipment including  chipping hammers and concrete saws. Bracing was installed along the brick to protect against vibration and severe weather.

Safety is always the number one priority. In keeping with this precedence, daily safety meetings and weekly safety audits were conducted. Brandenburg employees completed daily  Safety Task Analysis Cards that were used to address the  associated hazards, preventative actions and PPE requirements for the individual tasks being performed.

The bleacher expansion was completed by Opening Day 2015. The remaining improvements to the iconic ballpark are expected to be completed by 2018.
